Level 2 Awards
Shield Transatlantic Security (STS) is a licensed centre with NFPS Ltd (The National Federation for Personal Safety), this means that anyone who trains with us will get the best possible and most legally compliant training available in this area today, which will make learners gain knowledge and understanding in this field keeping you safe from prosecution.
STS courses are also available for staff who may have to deal with vulnerable young people or vulnerable adults or whose staff perform low risk security or door supervision roles, through to the more restrictive holds required for staff who have to deal with a much higher degree of challenging behaviour or more aggressive and violent behaviour. After completion learners will receive 2 certificates which is the level 2 and a free STS certificate and for an additional £20 will receive the 3rd certificate which is the NFPS Ltd (The National Federation for Personal Safety) certificate.
NFPS Ltd (The National Federation for Personal Safety) is considered to be one of the UK’s leading providers of Physical Intervention and Conflict Resolution Training. NFPS Ltd provides training that is legally accurate, health and safety compliant, has been medically reviewed and which meets all of the relevant guidance in industry specific areas. The courses were designed by Mark Dawes, one of the UK’s leading Expert Witness on the use of Reasonable Force, author of four books and someone whose expertise has been sought by the BBC, Sky News, National Radio and the House of Lords and House of Commons.
Level 2 Award in Breakaway and Self Defence
(1 Day 09.30am-16.00pm)
Legally defensible system of Self-Defence and also a training system that is compliant with Health and Safety Statute and the appropriate Health and Safety Regulations as well as the Law in relation to the use of physical force for self-defence, including compliance with the Convention rights as defined by the Human Rights Act 1998. This course is ideally suited to any members of the public or to staff in the Healthcare, Education or Care Sector or even to children at School.
You will be required to complete the online workbook which is your evidence of learning? Once you have completed your workbook you simply either send it in before-hand or bring it with your for marking.
On completion of the course you will be qualified to deliver Self Defence you will be awarded an Awarding Body level 2 in self defence.

Level 2 Award in Safe and Effective Use of Restraint Equipment (Handcuff and Softcuff 1 Day course 09.30am-16.00pm)
Understand the primary reason for handcuffing.
Understand the Health & Safety implications, including Sections 2 and 3 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, Regulation 3(1) of the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, the requirements of PUWER as well as the implications of the new Health and Safety Offences Act 2008 and the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007.
Understand the law, including compliance with: Section 3 (1) of the Criminal Law Act 1967, Common Law, Section 117 PACE and Articles 5, 3 and 2 of the Human Rights Act 1998.
Understand other areas of guidance - if required - such as: The Mental Health Act Code of Practice and NICE guidelines.
Understand the medical implications of handcuffing, including positional asphyxia.
Demonstrate how to apply handcuffs to a passive subject.
Demonstrate how to apply handcuffs to an aggressive subject.
Demonstrate how to remove handcuffs correctly.

Level 2 Award in Disengagement and Non-restrictive Physical Intervention Skills (QCF) 1 Day course 09.30am-16.00pm
This qualification is designed to provide training for people who may need to use physical intervention skills in the workplace to deal with people who display ‘challenging’, aggressive or violent behaviour.
It is aimed at people who have already taken some form of conflict management training (involving non-physical ways of managing and avoiding conflict), but whose job roles mean that they also need training in disengagement and physical intervention skills that range from the non-restrictive (for low-level challenging behaviour) to the restrictive (for higher-level challenging, aggressive or violent behaviour).
